When the Sea Lion Splash show is not on the road, they are ensconced in their
daily routine at their complex in Myakka City, Florida. The spacious grounds have been
designed for the comfort of the animals with multiple pools for the different daily
routines. A portion of the day is dedicated to one-on-one training with each animal for
research, performances and socialization. Working with their trainers, they will learn
commands using hand signals from the simple "down" and "hold" to the more complex of
"sticking your tongue out" or "flip".

The majority of the animal's day is spent playing, which is a very important role for their
development as an individual as well as a cohesive unit. They must learn to interact with each
other and playtime is a big part of it. They love to play catch, fetch and toss Frisbees with
their trainers as well as with each other. Their roles within the family dynamic are established
in this manner.
